Norm Jagger accepts "Environmental Business of the Year" Award
Regional President Norm Jagger accepts the "Environmental Business of the Year" award.

Aggregate Industries Named Environmental Business of the Year

Aggregate Industries North Central Region was named Environmental Business of the Year by Great River Greening, a Twin Cities-area non-profit regional leader for community-based ecological design and restoration. Aggregate Industries North Central Region, based in Eagan, Minnesota, employs approximately 750 people and was chosen to receive this award because of their commitment to the community and the environment.

This commitment is demonstrated through the implementation of an Environmental Management System (EMS), which enables Aggregate Industries to identify and control the environmental impact of its activities and products; improve its environmental performance continually; and implement a systematic approach to setting and achieving environmental objectives. This EMS has resulted in Aggregate Industries meeting the requirements of and receiving ISO 14001 Certification.

Aggregate Industries Regional President Norm Jagger said, I am extremely proud to have accepted this award on behalf of our employees. Their collective commitment to environmental excellence and community engagement help ensure that we are viewed as responsible members of the communities in which we operate and as leaders in the aggregates and construction materials industry.

The company also has pledged to reduce its company-wide greenhouse gas emissions through partnership with the US Environmental Protection Agencys Climate Leaders program and its recent partnership with Cool Climate Concrete (C3).

The development of the Aggregate Industries Guide to LEED Certification and its membership in the US Green Building Council (USGBC) are just two more examples of their commitment to the environment and sustainability. Over the years, the company has been a major proponent and producer of recycled concrete road base and has most recently developed an improved pervious concrete for the north land.

Great River Greening also recognized Aggregate Industries for their commitment to resource stewardship, land management, restoration of habitat for wildlife and commitment to biodiversity. Finally, Greening has chosen Aggregate Industries for the Companys enduring commitment to the community as demonstrated by its cooperative and constructive relationship with the state agencies and its long standing partnerships with the Nature Conservancy, the National Park Service - Junior Ranger Program, the Mississippi River Challenge event sponsored by Friends of the Mississippi, the charitable Grey Cloud Island River Run, its contribution to the City of Elk Rivers Top of the World Park and their nationally recognized biathlon training facility and its donation of Quarry Lake to the City of Shakopee, to mention a few.
