Aggregate Industries is pleased to announce the winner of the 2007 Commitment to the Environment Award is the North Central Region

The North Central Region went above and beyond environmental expectations and in several categories scored in the top 5% of the industry for their environmental efforts during 2007. These categories included Environmental Best Practice, Effect on Waste Management and Innovation of Project. The North Central Region implemented three Innovation Equipment Ideas and two Creative Containment Improvements in regards to the Federal Oil Pollution Prevention Regulations and Clean Water Act.

A description of the Innovative Equipment installed is below:
Drip-less pumps on crushers,
Submersible pumps for outdoor diesel and gasoline tanks,
Engine replacement for the slack line excavator,
Portable fiberglass containment for portable generator set, and
Double walled tank installation for portable operations.
